Samsung Galaxy S8 release date, speculations: Samsung to make an early announcement due to Galaxy Note 7 recall?

Although it is already expected that the Galaxy S8 will come out early next year, the unveiling may occur earlier than expected, as Samsung is said to compensate for its Galaxy Note 7 recall.

According to Korea Herald, analysts agree that the Galaxy Note 7 recall has an immediate impact for the South Korea-based tech giant. The industry follower notes that, as per observers, one noted change that the recall might cause is the change in Samsung's schedule for next year. Since the Galaxy Note 7's reliability has reportedly suffered because of the issue, Samsung may be planning on releasing its next flagship much earlier than expected.

Since the next flagship expected is the next Galaxy S-series iteration, it is rumored that the Galaxy S8 will come out sooner than fans have predicted it to be. Samsung has traditionally announced its next Galaxy S-series flagship a day before the annual Mobile World Congress. With the 2017 MWC starting in the last days of February, speculations suggest that Samsung may unveil the Galaxy S8 as early as February 26.

However, with what has happened to the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung may shift is focus to its next flagship and announce the Galaxy S8 way before the 2017 Mobile World Congress. It is even rumored that the new flagship may appear as early as January, with the 2017 MWC coinciding with the global release of the Galaxy S8 instead.

Meanwhile, although Samsung has yet to confirm details, speculations on what the Galaxy S8 will bring have already surfaced online. There are reports that, similar to the Galaxy Note 7, the next flagship will only be released in Edge variants, with both 5.1-inch and 5.7-inch versions having curved displays. There are also talks that Samsung will feature a dual-cam set up for its next flagship offering, along with other top-tier specs.
