Reportedly, Samsung will expand its current-gen Galaxy S7 lineup with another iteration, an Active version of the flagship. It looks like the new addition will be revealed soon, as images and the specs of the Galaxy S7 Active have been leaked online. In addition, it is said that the new iteration will come to AT&T.

According to SamMobile, the specs sheet for the Active version was seen on a benchmark site, revealing its improvements over the base Galaxy S7 model. The Active editions of Galaxy S series flagships are known for their rugged and element-proof specs. However, with the Galaxy S7 already having an IP6X rating (it is water-proof and dust-proof), Samsung added other upgrades for the upcoming new addition,

Based on the supposed specs sheet, the Galaxy S7 Active is similar to the Galaxy S7 Edge, at least in terms of specs inside. The design, however, took on a rugged look typical of the Active series, as the premium metal and glass build of the flagship switches over to a more convenient plastic polycarbonate construction. The buttons also got a makeover, as the Active version now sports rubberized ones.

Under the hood, the new Active version still gets the top-tier specs of the Galaxy S7 lineup. This means that the new iteration has the Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB of RAM and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. While it is still unconfirmed what the onboard storage will be, it is expected that it will have expandable microSD support like the base model.

It is still unclear if on top of the IP6X rating Samsung will decide to add mil-grade proofing specs to the new Galaxy S7 Active.

Since it has already been a year since AT&T launched the Galaxy S6 Active, another rugged version of the current-gen flagship seems likely to launch soon. Although no specific date has yet been revealed, it is said that the Galaxy S7 Active will be here soon. Leaked images and supposed benchmark specs always appear just weeks before a new iteration launches.
