Samsung Galaxy S5 release date, specs rumors: 13 megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilization?

iPhone 5S?  Samsung Galaxy Note 3?  Old news my friends, at least in the world of smartphones and phablets it seems our beady eyes are so quickly turning to the next new thing and that would be the Samsung Galaxy S5.

The latest buzz around the S5 is that the camera is getting a major upgrade from its predecessor, the S4, with its 13-megapixel lens being bumped up with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) technology to correct angular errors of up to 1.5 degrees.

That's according to the PatentBolt blog, which also speculated that the device will have a lower power consumption.

That's enough to bump other devices on the market out the water in terms of anti-shake correction, which have correction levels of around 0.7 degrees.

That means bye bye to those annoyingly blurry pictures and great news for people with shakey hands.

It also means the camera will cope much better with low light conditions, an area where this device has some room for improvement.

Word is the lens will be able to make pictures taken in low light conditions up to eight times brighter than the S4, which also has a 13-megapixel lens.

That will certainly narrow the gap with the HTC One, which got the thumbs up with users for building in cameras that work well in low light.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 released in April so the expectation is that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be out around the same time next year.
