Samsung Galaxy Note 7 vs. iPhone 7 release date, specs: Which handset is the winner?

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Samsung

With the iPhone 7 due for release in the near future, the competition between the two smartphone giants continues, not just among the fans of either company, but also between Samsung and Apple themselves.

BGR reports that at Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 launch event earlier this week, the marketing vice-president Justin Denison took a dig at Apple when he quipped, "Want to know what else it comes with?" Denison asked rhetorically. "An audio jack. I'm just saying." The comment was made with regard to the fact that the new iPhone may do away with the 3.5mm jack.

But will the Note 7 be better than the upcoming iPhone, or will it be the other way around? WCCFTech offers a neat comparison of the two smart devices.

Firstly, coming to the design, the Note 7 pretty much resembles the Note 5, with the only noticeable differences being the new sensor and a flash for the front lens. The iPhone 7 Plus, though, is radically different from its predecessor. There's the new dual camera on the rear face, and possibly different placements for the antenna bands.

As for the performance, little is known about Apple's new flagship phone. The few and far-between rumours suggest that the iPhone 7 Plus, and possibly the iPhone 7, too, will run on Apple A10 chips. But the Note 7, we know, is expected to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821. Which of the two will run better is nobody's guess till now, and we'll only know when we have an official review.

However, the average user is more concerned about the utility features that the phones come with. The cameras in the devices are what will draw most smartphone lovers to either of these new models. While no solid rumour has been concocted on the resolution that cameras in the new Apple devices will possess, the rear camera in the Note 7 is 12 MP. We will have to wait and watch if Apple does better than that.
