Samsung Galaxy Note 7 vs iPhone 6s Plus specs comparison: Which phablet shines in this battle?

Although the new Galaxy Note 7 doesn't become official until next week, Samsung's next flagship is already being compared against other current-gen flagships like the iPhone 6s Plus. How do the two phablets stack up against each other?

Although Samsung has yet to come out with confirmed specs on the Galaxy Note 7, some details and features have already been supposedly leaked about the device. Meanwhile, the iPhone 6s Plus remains as one of the top-tier current-gen lineups for Apple's smartphone division.

In terms of design, both fall under the phablet category, and as flagship iterations, maintain the slim and unibody design that is already signature of recent flagship releases. However there are some advantages for the new Samsung flagship being a later release than iPhone's iteration. For one, the new Galaxy Note 7 reportedly enjoys the same IP6X rating as the current-gen Galaxy S7 series, making the flagship dust- and water-proof. While some stress tests reportedly claim that the iPhone 6 lineup has water resistance, Apple has yet to confirm if the iPhone 6s Plus came with the feature. Meanwhile, although both may feature biometrics security via fingerprint scanners, Samsung has Apple beat since the Galaxy Note 7 will come out with an additional iris scanner.

For the display, the Galaxy Note 7 is supposed to have a bigger screen than the iPhone 6s Plus' 5.5-inch display, since rumors place either a 5.7-inch or 5.8-inch screen. While the Galaxy Note 7 may offer brighter and crisper colors with a 506 ppi against the new iPhone's 401 ppi, the iPhone 6s Plus makes up for it by featuring a pressure sensitive display, incorporating the 3D Touch tech from Apple.

Under the hood, the two share different specs profiles, though both are top-tier and flagship-level specs. The current-gen iPhone houses an A9 chipset with 2GB of RAM. As for the Galaxy Note 7, it will reportedly come out with top-tier Snapdragon or Exynos chipset, and rumor says it will have 6GB of RAM onboard. Performance-wise, the two enjoy flagship-level ratings, and which comes out on top depends on the user since platform, with the Apple device running iOS and the Galaxy Note 7 to come out with Android Marshmallow, upgradeable to Android 7.0 Nougat.
