Samsung Galaxy Android Nougat Beta program update: Galaxy Note 5, Tab S2 to receive beta soon?

Samsung has already started its Galaxy Beta program for the Android Nougat 7.0 update. It rolled out the beta version for its flagship, the Galaxy S7. Speculations suggest that Samsung will add other devices in the list, particularly the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy Tab S2.

SamMobile states that there is confirmation that a beta version of Android Nougat 7.0 is being developed for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy Tab S2. With these two additions, Samsung is rounding off its flagship lineups for the Galaxy Beta program. The Galaxy Note 5 is the other current-gen smartphone flagship, since the South Korea-based tech giant has discontinued the Galaxy Note 7. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab S2 is still the flagship slate, as the Galaxy Tab S3 has yet to be officially announced.

Meanwhile, it should be noted that the Android Nougat platform being released for Samsung flagships is still a beta version. Pending feedback and improvements, users should expect the full version to roll out in December at the earliest. This is certainly understandable, since reports indicate that not all Android Nougat features from the stock ROM are compatible with Samsung devices.

According to SlashGear, one noted glitch for the Android Nougat platform on Samsung flagships is that the new version breaks Gear VR compatibility for the handsets. This is a glaring issue, since the new Samsung headset is said to work well with Android Marshmallow. While Samsung has yet to confirm the issue, it is likely that there are some discrepancies with the Gear VR software and Google's own Daydream VR built into the new Android platform.

Samsung has yet to come out with a rollout schedule for the full version of Android Nougat 7.0. However, it is expected that those who are in the program will receive the full update before the year ends, while most Samsung devices that are compatible with Android Nougat will receive the update beginning in early 2017.
