Royal wedding news: Thomas Markle calls Prince Harry a 'gentleman'

Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Sr., has nothing but good words for the royal wedding, amid rumors of a family rift.

The bride's father, who has been divorced from Doria Ragland since Meghan was 6, has kept a low profile since the royal engagement was announced. But in a rare video acquired by The Sun, Thomas is seen talking about it for the first time.

"I think it's wonderful, I'm very delighted. I think they're (a) very good match, I'm very happy for them, Meghan and Harry," he told a passerby while visiting a convenience store in Rosarito, Mexico.

While it was earlier revealed that Meghan and her 73-year-old father are "not on the best of terms," Thomas has only sweet words for the future royal couple.

"I love my daughter very much -- Harry's a gentleman," he added.

After giving his short opinion of the couple and the royal wedding, the often-described "reclusive" father expressed his desire to be left alone.

"Now leave me alone please," he told the woman taking a video and a crowd of onlookers. "Don't bother me any more. No more flashing cameras in my eyes or I'll flash back."

The woman who filmed the video shared she has seen Thomas before while visiting family and friends in Rosarito, although she did not initially knew who he was. He has even previously complimented on how "cute" her daughter was, which was why he put irritation aside when she started asking him about his thoughts on the royal wedding.

The father-daughter Markle were not always on the best of terms, as seen in an old video of 18-year-old Meghan talking about how she could not visit her father's home even when they were driving just four minutes away from it.

Looks like they have since reconciled, however, as seen in Meghan's Instagram post from Father's Day 2016, where she said "to this day your hugs are still the very best in the whole wide world."

Despite this, reports say the 36-year-old actress is hoping it would be her mom who would walk her down the aisle.
