According to rumors, the new season of "Rick and Morty" may be delayed to 2017. However, it seems that the episode recording continues to progress, leading fans to expect that a late 2016 start for season 3 is still possible.

In a recent interview with Collider, the creative team of Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland was asked about the upcoming season 3.

While not answering directly when can fans expect the new show to premiere, Roiland teased, "Well we're well into the thick of it. We're deep into the season and I always like to underpromise and overdeliver but I do really feel like, the episodes we've got in the hopper are some of the best we've ever done, I think."

Roiland also promises that hardcore fans will have something to look forward to in season 3 of "Rick and Morty."

The writer adds, "It's always surprising to see what people react to and what episodes are people's favorites and stuff because we can never predict that internally but we've got some great stuff this season that we're really, really excited about."

Speculations have mentioned that the new season may get delayed and will premiere during the early months of 2017. However, with the creative team's hint that the new season is well into development, hardcore fans may now expect season 3 of "Rick and Morty" to air before 2016 ends.

Since season 3 will possibly air earlier than expected, some fans have already made their wish lists regarding what the new "Rick and Morty" show will be all about. Popular among fans is that season 3 will explore the concept of a multiverse, with mad scientist Rick discovering other versions of himself, with the original one going back to his own universe. Meanwhile, there are also rumors that the multiverse theory will expound on Morty's case, which turns out to be from some other universe since the original one is already dead.
