'Rick and Morty' news: Co-creator Dan Harmon gives advice on battling depression

"Rick and Morty" may sometimes be a nonsensical or eccentric show, but its co-creator has a penchant for wisdom, as Dan Harmon, the person in question has imparted some helpful advice for people suffering from depression.

In Twitter, a fan asked Harmon for some counsel for depression, to which he responded in conclusion, "The most important thing I can say to you is please don't deal with it alone. There is an incredible, miraculous magic to pushing your feelings out. Even writing 'I want to die' on a piece of paper and burning it will feel better than thinking about it alone. Output is magical." This was after he gave three long answers first.

Harmon himself was no stranger to depression, as suggested by website AV Club. Apparently, the "Rick and Morty" co-creator has even met a few obstacles for his career due to the psychological sickness. This perhaps made Harmon more sympathetic towards people with a similar condition.

A lot of fans were even surprised at Harmon's response, as he suggested that the first step of dealing with depression is accepting its existence and not denying that one might have it. This way, afflicted individuals will be able to express their despair. Additionally, venting sadness is also advised by Harmon instead of keeping it a secret, since it could get more destructive otherwise.

Meanwhile, the person who asked Harmon on Twitter, named Chelsea Sargent but uses the Twitter name "colton lancington," was surprised since she did not think that the co-creator would even reply. Because of this, Harmon's answers were retweeted and shared thousands of times, with a lot of people being moved to tears by his advice and gesture.

This was a rather important show of concern for Sargent as she had been suffering from depression ever since she was just eight. Hearing a positive and helpful response from someone who wasn't a therapist made it even more significant for Sargent, and perhaps even other people.
