"Resident Evil: The Last Chapter" fans will have to wait longer for its release --  nine months to be exact.

However, the movie's star Milla Jovovich has some great news to share.

On Monday, Jovovich shared the reason why filming for "Resident Evil: The Last Chapter" will be delayed. It is known that the film is in its early stages as Jovovich was already filming in South Africa.

She took to Facebook to share that the reason behind the delay is because she is pregnant. Jovovich and husband Paul W.S. Anderson, who happens to be writer and director of the movie, are expecting another child. There is no confirmation as to how long the delay will be, but fans can assume that it could be approximately nine months.

Jovovich's official Facebook statement reads:

"This was originally going to be a post to tell you how excited I am about flying to Cape Town, South Africa to begin working on "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter."

"But... My husband Paul and I just discovered that we are expecting another baby!!!

"After a lot of discussion, we thought it would be in everyone's best interest to wait till the baby is born before we set out to try and tackle an R.E. movie. Between the stunt work and what will become my ever-expanding belly, we didn't think pregnancy and zombie killing are the best combo! Lol! I imagine the only thing I'll be killing in the near future is an endless supply of cupcakes. Yikes...

"In all seriousness though, we want to make the best movie possible and that would be extremely difficult, to say the least, in my present condition.

"I would like to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has been working so hard on the movie in South Africa already and we are so looking forward to working with you all next summer. And when we arrive, it will hopefully be with the newest member of our little family! YAY!

"Before I go, I want to also send one more HUGE thank you out to all my amazing fans who have been so patient waiting for the next installment of the R.E. franchise! YOU ROCK!

"Thanks so much for understanding everyone! All the best! –m"

"Resident Evil: The Last Chapter" is the sixth movie in the "Resident Evil" franchise. It is supposed to be released in 2016.
