Queen to Speak About Faith and Dialogue in Christmas Speech

Buckingham Palace has revealed that the Queen's Christmas Day speech will focus on the relationship between different generations.

A press release from the palace said the Queen will also reflect on how faiths encourage dialogue.

"The wisdom and experience of the great religions point to the need to nurture and guide the young, and to encourage respect for the elderly," she will say.

For the first time this year, the speech will be made available as a podcast. Those who order the free download from the Monarchy's website will receive the podcast on 25 December at 1500 GMT. The message can also be watched online.

In addition, the Queen has recorded a radio message for the Armed Services and their families which will be played to troops on Christmas morning. It is the second time she has done so in recent years.

This year's speech was filmed at Southwark Cathedral in London.
In an advance preview, the Queen, wearing a spring green outfit, is shown chatting to schoolchildren as she helps them make a triptych collage of a nativity scene.

The Queen's grandfather, King George V, delivered the first royal Christmas broadcast live on the radio from Sandringham in 1932.
