Premier Launches New Program Looking into Mission

The renowned Christian radio station, Premier Radio is going to launch a new program this week focusing on different aspects of mission in the Church of England.

The Church of England, the biggest denomination in Britain, has been clouded by a number of controversies within the Anglican Communion worldwide. Homosexual bishop ordination, same-sex blessings and women bishop consecration are some of the on-going debates that are in deadlock. However, more than all these troubles that have hit the headlines, the report about the mission of the Church must be stressed.

Premier Radio, starting from 3rd February, will take a weekly look at a different aspect of the Church’s ministry. It will cover education to publishing; from its website to new initiatives aimed at creating "mission-shaped churches". The program will be aired at 6:20pm GMT.

Peter Crumpler, Director of Communications for the Archbishops' Council, said in the news release, "The series aims to help listeners learn more about the Church of England's vital ministry, and to hear how its Christian mission is going forward in communities across the country."

David Heron, Chairman of Premier Christian Radio, said in the news release, "I'm delighted that we have entered into this partnership, and look forward to programs which explore the multitude of excellent projects that the Church is involved in."

The first features of the program include a look at the increasing numbers of Church of England schools, a survey of new titles from Church House Publishing, an exploration of the work of the Church Commissioners, and a discussion of how churches are playing a key role at the centre of their communities.
