Premier Christian Radio goes digital across the nation

Premier Christian Radio made broadcasting history when it beamed out across the nation on DAB digital radio for the first time on Monday.

Broadcasting regulator Ofcom initially rejected Premier’s bid to win a nationwide DAB license in 2007 but recently reversed its decision, making Premier the first Christian radio station to broadcast across the nation on a digital license.

The license means that listeners will be able to pick up a crystal clear signal of the radio station wherever they are in the country.

Until now, the ministry’s digital radio license had been limited to London, meaning that it could only broadcast nationwide through the television or internet.

Premier will celebrate the launch of its nationwide DAB service this Saturday with a prayer event at the Methodist Central Hall joined by presenters John Pantry, Rick Easter and David Aldous.

The prayer event will be followed by a praise party with worship led by Dave Bilbrough, Muyiwa & Riversongz and the London Community Gospel Choir.

Premier director Peter Kerridge and presenters Dave Rose and Tony Miles will also be present to mark the historic occasion.

After 14 years of broadcasting, Premier Christian Radio said it was at a “really exciting moment” for the future of the ministry.
