The British drama television series "Poldark" was warmly received by both critics and viewers when it was first broadcast by BBC One in March last year. It is no wonder, therefore, that there is so much buzz about what will happen in the upcoming second season of the show, which is based on the novels of Winston Graham.
According to a report from The Huffington Post, BBC One recently released the first trailer for "Poldark" Season 2, which lasted for only around 30 seconds. The trailer showed the show's titular character, Ross Poldark, still handcuffed and being surrounded by guards.
It will be recalled that Poldark, played by Aiden Turner, was arrested at the end of the first season on charges of plunder and, more seriously, the murder of the cousin of his archrival George Warleggan.
In the same trailer, Poldark can be heard saying this powerful statement: "I fought for our liberty, for our hopes, for our dreams, and I'll keep on fighting, whatever the cost."
Aside from the problems brought by his arrest, Poldark will also have to contend with the death of his daughter, Julia, who died of a throat disease by the end of last season.
In a separate report also by The Huffington Post, Turner was also quoted as saying that his character will meet with a past love, Elizabeth, in the upcoming season of "Poldark."
Unlike the novel, however, Poldark will not be depicted as raping Elizabeth.
"It seems consensual, and it just seems right. He goes to talk. He doesn't go to commit a crime. They talk and it seems like there is still this spark between them, this unfinished business emotionally," Turner said.
"Certainly, that's how Ross feels. He doesn't force himself upon her," he added.
The show has also already been renewed for a third season even before the second season returns to the TV screens on Sept. 4.
