'Pokémon GO' Generation 2 Eevee evolution: One-time limit for Umbreon and Espeon in gen 2 update?

It has been confirmed that the recent trick for controlling Eevee's evolution in "Pokémon GO" is only for a limited number of times. Will this trick also work with the rumored two new evolutions in the major, second-gen update?

According to Slash Gear, some players have found out that they can only use the trick to control Eevee evolution a number of times. Allegedly, each trick can only be used by a player for up to three times for each type. This means that although players can have more than enough Flareon, Vaporeon, and Jolteon in the list, a controlled evolution can only be achieved thrice and will not work from then on.

Meanwhile, a second-gen update for "Pokémon GO" is reportedly in the works, with the new patch coming out early next year. The new major update purportedly adds second-gen creatures, as well as additional evolutions, for the Pokémon lineup. For Eevee, the new update will supposedly add Umbreon and Espeon. Speculations add that similar to the current lineup, there will also be a trick for controlled evolution. Giving Eevee candies and walking in the day will transform the normal-type Pokémon to Espeon, while doing the same during the night will net an Umbreon evolution.

However, even if a similar trick will come out with a second-gen update, it remains to be seen if the three-time limit will also apply with the Umbreon and Espeon evolutions, particularly since the new trick may be possibly tied with the rumored Buddy system that comes with the major update.

Previously, enterprising hardcore fans of the new "Pokémon GO" game found a trick in evolution for player-favorite Eevee. Reportedly, players can control the evolution for normal-type Eevee by changing the nicknames to its appropriate aliases. Renaming each Eevee before evolution will transform the creature into a preferred evolution. Players who want a fire-type Flareon will need to change the name to Pyro; an alias of Rainer will transform Eevee into water-type Vaporeon; and renaming the creature as Sparky will transform Eevee into lightning-type Jolteon.
