Sony has already announced the pricing and roll-out period for its upcoming PlayStation VR headset. Although there is no specified release date yet, the October roll-out seems to already be final as pre-orders for the PlayStation VR package go live today.

According to an announcement by Sony on the U.S. PlayStation Blog, the pre-orders for the PlayStation VR bundle will open today, starting at 7 a.m. PT. The bundle is exclusive for pre-sale packages only and is also on a limited run.

However, although the post did say that this pre-order run is for a limited time only, fans who will not be able to get the bundle this time will have another chance as another pre-order run is scheduled to go live in summer.

With a price tag of $499.99, the PlayStation VR bundle pre-order includes the PlayStation VR system, complete with the headgear, connecting cables, headphones, PlayStation VR Demo disc, PlayStation Camera, two PlayStation Move controllers and a bonus PlayStation VR Worlds disc.

The PlayStation VR bundle will also be available for pre-order in Canada, with a price tag of $699.99 CAD.

According to Ars Technica, the bundle is a welcome purchase for virtual reality fans who want to get the most out of the PlayStation VR system. The bundle's price tag offers savings compared against buying the pieces individually, and the convenience of having them come via a package deal – particularly the Move controllers and camera, which are required for some games – is an added bonus.

Meanwhile, although the PlayStation 4 already supports the upcoming VR system, Sony is said to be upping the ante and will provide updated console hardware soon. Kotaku states that according to their sources, the new "PlayStation 4.5" will offer both VR support and 4K video gaming features.

However, Sony has yet to provide official confirmation of the rumored upgrade.
