PlayStation Plus August 2016 free games list features 'Yakuza 5' among others

 US PlayStation Blog

Previously, rumors suggested that a triple-A title will make it to the August 2016 lineup of PlayStation Plus free games. The list has been released, and it is confirmed that the 2015 hit "Yakuza 5" is one of the free titles for download.

Starting this week, PS Plus members can get the games downloaded for free. Aside from "Yakuza 5," fans of the older-gen PS3 can also get "Retro/Grade," a music-based reverse-shooter from 24 Caret Games. The current-gen PS4 also gets its share of free games, since the list contains "Tricky Towers," a physics-based puzzle game from WeirdBeard Games that pits two to four players in either local or online multiplayer battles in tower stacking. In addition, another free game for the PS4 is a combat RPG, "Rebel Galaxy."

Meanwhile, aside from being available for the PS4, "Ultratron" is also available for the PS3 and PS Vita. Another game for the handheld system is rhythm side-scroller "Patapon 3."

Though the August lineup is yet to go live, the list is already getting backlash from some of the fans and PS Plus members. To date, the trailer announcing the new lineup has already gathered more than 20 thousand dislikes against a meager two thousand likes. Checking the comments, some of the fans are disappointed that while promising a mix of triple-A and classic games, Sony has yet to come out with a satisfying PS Plus lineup, and that a high-profile game has yet to be included as a free download.

Even some observers are comparing the current PS Plus program to its rival, Microsoft's Xbox Games with Gold feature. Aside from featuring major titles like "Sunset Overdrive," "Lords of the Fallen," and titles from the "Saints Row" franchise, Xbox also has the backwards compatibility program, so Xbox One players can get to enjoy titles for the older-gen Xbox 360.
