'PlayerUnknown's BattleGrounds' replay and killcam feature to be included on launch; new features will help detect cheaters

Battle royale shooter "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" ("PUBG") is getting closer to its v1.0 release. Developers at PUBG Corp. announced that they have another surprise feature for when the game hits its official launch date later this month. That is, a killcam and replay system will be implemented into the game.

PUBG Corp. will be working with South Korea-based video game company Minkonet to provide the killcam and replay feature.

The features will incorporate full 3D and will include customization options for users. By default, the cams are set to replay the last kill that happened or the recent in-game feat

Meanwhile, the new feature will also include views for spectators of e-Sports games. This will make it easier to watch  "PUBG" Twitch streams, for example.

The much-needed feature is a great help to balance the steep learning curve of the game.

Most player deaths in "PUBG" are sudden, without so much of an explanation as to what led to the event. Killcams could provide insight into each player's style. They will have a better idea of what tactics and strategies to employ by watching replays. This way, they could also study their weak points and think of ways to improve.

Aside from these advantages, the replay features have a much more practical function. PUBG Corp. and Minkonet stated that they intend to use the feature to detect cheaters.

The company said that the replay features will help them detect cheaters who use "Speed Hack, Aimbot or the Extrasensory Perception (ESP) hacking." It will be easier to collect evidence of cheating when a playback function is built-in, after all.

Indeed, the upcoming camera functions are expected to add value to the competitive appeal of the game. With anti-cheating in mind, the replay features help "PUBG" become a fairer battlefield.

"PUBG" will be out of Early Access and into v1.0 on December 20. The above-mentioned features will be included, together with a new desert map called "Miramar."
