The battle royale shooter known as "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" ("PUBG") continues to gain popularity even as the PC version is still in Steam Early Access. Battlegrounds-style games are also popular in mobile games, and it seems that Chinese developers are eager to bring the game to the platform. Two gameplay trailers recently surfaced for upcoming "PUBG" mobile ports.

The trailers are for two separate games. While the PUBG Corporation officially endorsed the segment, Tencent is also credited as the games' publisher.

One of the games will be developed by Lightspeed & Quantum Studio, which is expected to be reasonably similar to the PC version. The other will be made by Tencent's own Timi Studio, which will add naval battles on top of the usual mayhem.

Video game analyst Daniel Ahmad said in a tweet that both games would be using Unreal Engine 4. This widely-successful engine's earlier versions were used for popular games like "Batman: Arkham City," "Killing Floor," and "Bioshock Infinite."

The official websites for both games are in Chinese and there is no word yet about plans for an international release. While most fans are excited about the prospect of a mobile version, some are doubtful of its success. There are doubts about whether a mobile platform can efficiently host a 100-man battle on the scale that "PUBG" does for the PC.

In any case, "PUBG" continues to reap popularity and success in the current gaming market. There is already a trailer for an Xbox release. The game is also expected to move out from Early Access and into a full launch later this month.

"PUBG" recently teased a new desert map, along with new vaulting and climbing mechanics. The first-ever gameplay footage of the desert map will be revealed during The Game Awards, which will take place on Dec. 7.
