The sequel to the original 2015 role-playing game (RPG) "Pillars of Eternity" was supposed to come out in the next month. "Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire" has just been announced as delayed. Developer Obsidian Entertainment gave the reason of wanting to be sure of the game before release.

The game got quite a lot of attention that many have clamored for a new game. Thankfully, they did announce prior that the development of the game was underway. Even more recently did they give the release date for the game set on Apr. 2, 2018. Fortunately, the delay is not that long.

"As you have probably guessed, Deadfire is a huge game — significantly larger than the original Pillars of Eternity," said a representative of Obsidian, per PC Gamer. "Obsidian has been working harder than Abydon himself to make every inch of it awesome, as well as incorporating all the great feedback we have been getting from everyone playing the Backer Beta."

"With this in mind, we are taking just a few extra weeks to polish and out those finishing touches on the game. Our new launch date will be Tuesday, May 8th, 2018," concludes the developer's announcement. At the very least, it is not some major issue that would cause the game to be delayed for a year or years.

To ease the frustration of the delay, Obsidian promises to be transparent to its fans until the release. They will be releasing a lot of Deadfire-related news and content. As for its gameplay so far, it is surely worth the wait anyway as it has a lot more content than the first.

Again, "Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire" will be out on May 8, 2018, exactly 37 days of extra wait for those who are counting. It will be available on the PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and the PC which will get the game ahead of the consoles.
