'Overwatch' DLC update news: Competitive Play, balance changes come to Xbox One ahead of schedule

The new weapons and character balances, as well as system updates, continue in "Overwatch," as Competitive Play and balance patches go live for the console versions.

The new update has gone live on the Xbox One first. In an announcement, developer Blizzard has outlined that the new Competitive Play feature will be playable for hardcore players of "Overwatch," since the new mode will be locked until the players reach level 25. The studio believes that reaching this level, players will already have a better understanding of the game and will be able to play more aggressively.

Meanwhile, the new patch that comes with the new Competitive Play mode continues to make balance changes in the "Overwatch" roster. Once again, some of the characters have been toned down to make it fairer for other players. McCree and Widowmaker all received toned-down states for their skills and ultimates.

The new patch also contained gameplay tweaks, as well as bug fixes.

Aside from the Xbox One, the new patch is now also available for the PS4, with the same changes and improvements like legacy controls, disabling "Avoid This Player" system, hero balance changes, and bug fixes.

On the other hand, since the Competitive Play is a new feature, some of the players encountered new bugs in the new mode, and hopes that Blizzard will be releasing hot fixes as soon as possible. One of the glitches has players with poor connections reconnecting within the one-minute time-out window still being listed with a loss. While not directly saying a release date for the fixes, game director Jeff Kaplan promised players that, "I know this won't be much of a consolation, but we're working on a bunch of fixes to the way disconnecting/losing/leaving works right now. We're hoping to have fixes in soon."

Meanwhile, it is not yet confirmed if the PC version will have a new patch soon, since some of the changes for the console versions have already made it to previous PC patches.
