Reportedly, Blizzard is set to introduce more characters to the "Overwatch" roster after the release of the new Competitive Mode this month.

Blizzard will be adding new content to "Overwatch" with the release of the new Competitive Mode. However, fans are expecting that the developer will also be including new in-game content as part of the expansion. According to The Bitbag, additional characters as possible DLC expansion may have already been at hinted by Blizzard, most especially in the "Overwatch Recall" animated short. There are at least three NPCs who have detailed appearances on the show, and the industry follower says that it may be a hint at upcoming DLC.

Meanwhile, two of the most rumored characters that will reportedly make their way as first "Overwatch" DLC characters are Sombra and Liao.

Since the new Competitive Play is expected to be released in full this month, expansion content like possible character additions may come out later in the year. Blizzard is focusing on the new feature of the game and has even rolled out a new patch for the public beta testing region for the new gameplay option. The beta testing is already in full swing, and some regions like South Korea have already given feedback on the upcoming Competitive Play feature, including in-game gameplay and the competition rewards.

Some of the confirmed details of the new Competitive Play feature include its requirements. Apparently, the new feature will only be accessible to players who have already reached level 25, and already have skill rating based on at least ten placement matches.

The developer is also keen on checking out the existing roster first, rather than take their time introducing new ones. Just recently, a number of character-specific patches have been introduced in the game, and some have offered skills balances for the fighters. For instance, fan favorites Widowmaker and McCree received some new updates, scaling down their Ultimates.
