It is expected that the OnePlus 3T will be launched today. Moreover, speculations suggest that another lineup may join the press event.
According to GSM Arena, a new OnePlus iteration has been spotted on benchmark website Geekbench. Interestingly, the new device has been listed as the OnePlus Pixel. Looking at its benchmark specs list, the purported OnePlus Pixel looks to be similar to the current-gen OnePlus 3, with a Snapdragon 820 processor and 6 GB of RAM. However, the listed device runs on Android Nougat 7.1, the latest Google Android platform.
Should it be launched today, it will serve as a step-down variant to the expected OnePlus 3T. This is highly likely, as OnePlus has been known to release watered-down versions of current flagships. Previously, it has launched a complement OnePlus X variant to its previous flagship, the OnePlus 2.
Meanwhile, Gadgets by NDTV believes that instead of launching a new lineup iteration, the OnePlus Pixel may be a prototype, set to test some features like Android 7.1 for the upcoming OnePlus 4 flagship. It is unclear though, on why OnePlus chose SD 820 as its chipset, since SD 821 is already available. The supposed Snapdragon 830 processor that is expected to power the OnePlus 4 is yet to be released.
Although the OnePlus Pixel remains a mystery, its supposed co-launch iteration, the OnePlus 3T, is just waiting for official confirmation. Previous supposed leaks have already mentioned upgrades over the current-gen OnePlus 3, and OnePlus itself has already teased a new step-up device powered by Snapdragon 821 to launch today, albeit the same 6-GB RAM and 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED display. Other upgrades that will supposedly feature in the new OnePlus 3T include a new Sony IMX398 sensor for its main shooter, and a massive 3,300-mAh battery upgrade. It is also said that the OnePlus 3T will run on Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box.
