'Once Upon A Time' season 4: How will Hook live without his heart?

Will Emma (Jennifer Morrison) lose Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) in the coming episodes of "Once Upon A Time" season 4?

Last Sunday, Hook tried to block Rumple (Robert Carlyle) from getting Emma's powers. Rumple did not succeed as Elsa (Georgina Haig) had helped Emma to keep all her supernatural abilities.  Thus, Rumple decided to do the next best (or worst) thing — get the heart of the person who knew him before he transformed into the Dark One, and that person happens to be Hook.

Although Hook's heart is completely ripped out, he is still alive. However, Rumpelstiltskin is still bent on killing Emma's love once all his tasks are complete.

O'Donoghue discussed his character's fate in the hit ABC fantasy TV drama in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"Hook firmly believes that Rumpelstiltskin is going to kill him," the actor said.  "He has to do whatever Rumple tells him to, but he can't help but already miss the idea of not having Emma. He's desperate to try and figure out a way to survive, but for somebody who prides himself on being a survivor, this is the last grasp."

When asked what Rumple plans to do to him, the actor teased that he will be used to go after other magical beings.

O'Donoghue also said that Hook is not happy with the way things turned out for him after he decided to break away from his dark past.

"He really doesn't want to have to do that, and it's killing him to have to pretend to Emma that everything is okay. He's remorseful for that, but he has no choice," the actor said.

He also dished about how Emma will react to Hook's latest predicament.  He said that she senses that there is something going on but does not have the opportunity to find out what it is.  Also, even without his heart, Hook remains as Hook and still continues to love Emma.

"Once Upon A Time" season 4 airs Sundays, on ABC.
