The United States and Canada will compete in the men's hockey semifinals at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics on Friday in what should be a fierce match up.

The results will be updated live here.

This will be the second time in two days that these two nations compete for hockey superiority, with the USA and Canada women playing in the women's gold medal final on Thursday. Canada stole the victory in that game, coming back from 0-2 down to win 3-2 in overtime.

Canada's men also won gold four years ago in the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, and Team USA will be desperate to gain revenge today by dumping Canada into the bronze medal match.

Today's men's hockey semifinal between the USA and Canada will be taking place at 12 p.m. EST noon, and will be shown on TV on NBC Sports, and can also be watched online through free live stream on NBC Olympics by clicking here.

Coming into this game Team USA is the team in form – they have been smashing in the goals regularly in the Winter Olympics so far, where as Canada have been struggling for form, often looking void of penetration.

In the quarterfinals, the USA managed to cruise past a talented Czech Republic team, where as Canada were made to work hard to drag out a 2-1 win over Latvia. That result was far from convincing, and if Canada put in a similar performance against the United States on Friday they could be in for an embarrassing defeat.

However, the United States would do well not to be complacent as this Canada team has more than enough talent to cause any team trouble. They have not clicked together so far this Winter Olympics, but a match up against their old foes might just spark them into action, and when these rivals come together the form books often can be thrown out the window.
