Nvidia announced last month that the new Pascal 1000 GPUs are ready for release. The top-tier GTX 1080 rolled out in May, while the base model yet still powerful GTX 1070 was officially released last week.

First reviews of the GTX 1070 are positive and may give the current-gen Titan GPUs a run for their money. Some observers say that with the new Pascal architecture in the GTX 1070, it performs much better and at a faster pace than the top-tier Titan X. This is already surprising since experts expected that the premium GTX 1080 will be the one to go head to head with the Titan X flagship. Impressions of the GTX 1070's performance, particularly on heavy 4K content, are positive and some retailers and even Nvidia's online store have sold out the first batch as demands for the GTX 1070 outstripped the current supply.

According to Ars Technica, one thing that may have made a strong impression about the GTX 1070, aside from its performance, is the price tag. The current-gen GTX 980 Ti cards have market prices of $650 upwards, as compared with the GTX 1070's launch price of $449 at the highest configuration.

The industry follower added that although the price of the GTX 1070 is higher compared to its competitors, the price-to-performance ratio more than makes up for it. The Fury Nano GPUs from competitor AMD, although having the same price range, is lacking in its 4GB RAM capacity when compared with Nvidia's 8GB minimum. Meanwhile, although having similar specs, the AMD R9 Fury and R9 Fury X come with higher price tags.

Meanwhile, the GTX 1070 also made a strong opening and when compared against the top-tier GTX 1080, it is revealed that the base model can stand on its own. The GTX 1070 reportedly offers up to 80 percent of the performance of the top-tier 1080 but has only 60 percent of the price of the higher-end card.
