Speculations suggest that the upcoming new top-tier NVIDIA GPU, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, will come out early next year. As a premium series addition, it is said that the new card will fetch a price tag of around $700 upon release.

While NVIDIA has yet to come out with specific release details on the new card, a price tag of $700 upwards is certainly possible. NVIDIA's current top-tier GPU, the GTX 1080, is already north of $600. Meanwhile, the Pro version of the NVIDIA's current card lineup, the Titan X, is upwards of $1,000. Placing a Ti version of the current GTX series in between the two top lineup iterations makes the GTX 1080 Ti a competitive GPU for the GTX.

Based on its supposed leaked specs, the upcoming card will be close behind the Titan X in terms of speed and performance, and for the supposed price bracket, may be a contender with the Titan's premium card. The GTX 1080 Ti is supposed to have 3,328 CUDA cores, just a bit lower than the Titan X's 3,584. Meanwhile, the former can be boosted for up to 1,623 MHz, a significantly higher speed than the latter's boosted clock of 1,531 MHz. The GTX 1080 Ti is said to carry a 12 GB VRAM. The card is based on the upper-level GP102 architecture, a top-tier bracket in NVIDIA's current Pascal lineups.

As to when fans can expect the new card, it is said that the GTX 1080 Ti will debut as early as January next year. The upcoming GPU will most likely appear as one of NVIDIA's highlight products for the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show. The event will be held from Jan 3 to 8. With an early January release, it is possible that the GTX 1080 Ti will launch on the market in either February or March.
