Denver Broncos rumors 2016: rumors swirling that starting QB will be Trevor Siemian

The race for the starting quarterback position for the new Denver Broncos lineup is still heating up, although some hints at who's on top seem to be circulating recently.

According to Mile High Report, although team head coach Gary Kubiak did speak about the three-way deadlock between Mark Sanchez, Trevor Siemian, and first-round draft pick Paxton Lynch. However, reading between the lines of what he said, the industry follower surmised that the head coach seems to be looking for more options other than Siemian.

Of course, Kubiak only has nice words for Siemian, as the head coach said, "I think Trevor has a maturity to him. He's kind of the sleeper, I would say. Trevor knows the offense. He's very comfortable and can throw the ball too." However, the coach added that, "We've also seen him make big plays in the preseason games under the lights. I wouldn't sleep on Trevor to win the job, either."

The industry follower interpreted the statement as something akin to a "no comment" gesture on Kubiak's part, and that the starting QB race is still on, although where Siemian is in among the rivalry is still undetermined. The observer noted however, that although Siemian is already a top candidate given his two-year stint with the team, Kubiak and general manager John Elway still secured other options by drafting Paxton Lynch.

Meanwhile, Demaryius Thomas, now the most tenured player on the team, shares his optimism that whoever is picked for the starting job will mesh well with the team, given time. The Broncos wide receiver, however, only has high praise for Siemian. "I was watching last year when he came in, and he always had a great ball and poise, made good decisions. He tried not to turn the ball over, and that's what the offense wants and the head coach wants," he stated.
