Fans expected Google to announce new products at its annual I/O conference held this month, particularly the much-rumored Nexus 7 2016. However, the event has come and gone without any mention of the Nexus device. Speculations suggest that Google is still waiting for the full version of Android N before coming out with new Nexus products, including the new tablet.

The Bitbag underscores that being a new release, the upcoming Nexus 7 tablet is expected to run on Android N. However, the new platform's full version is still not ready, and this was apparent at the I/O event. While the new Android version did make an appearance, the showcased platform was only in its developer preview version.

As for when the Nexus 7 will appear, it may be before August or September that new Nexus lineups will be announced. Reports have mentioned that Google plans for Android N to cycle through at least five Developer Preview versions before coming out with the full platform. The new version is already in its third developer beta version, and it is expected that at least two more will roll out in June and July.

Meanwhile, Google has yet to come out with details about a new Nexus 7, but rumors on the new tablet continue to circulate online. Speculations suggest that one of the major candidates as the Nexus 7 maker is Huawei, and that it will feature above-average specs on the slate.

While it is unconfirmed, Huawei as the maker for the Nexus 7 is plausible. The China-based tech conglomerate is already familiar with the Google lineup, being the company's partner for the successful Nexus 6P. Huawei is also acquainted with tablet assembly, since it also has its own slate lineup.

The first Nexus 7 iteration was released back in 2012, made in collaboration with Asus.
