Nexus 7 2016 release date rumors: Huawei to release new Nexus 7 soon as current iteration sells at a discount?

According to rumors, Google is thinking of adding a tablet to this year's batch of Nexus devices. The speculations also suggest that the tech giant is tapping Huawei to make the new product iteration, said to be a refreshed Nexus 7. Discounts on the current Nexus lineups seem to indicate that a new lineup is coming.

There have been ongoing discounts on the current Nexus 5X. In the deal, the base model Nexus 5X that has 16 GB of internal storage and bundled with the Project Fi option currently retails at $199, while the 32GB version is available for $249.

The industry follower said that the discount is a limited offer, available only until April 7.

The timing of the deal seems coincidental with speculations on the new Nexus lineups coming out soon. According to Know Your Mobile, rumor has it that Huawei is planning to out its own take on a Nexus 7 tablet during this year's Google I/O Conference, which is scheduled for May. Should this be proven true, the unveiling may immediately be followed by the Nexus 7 rollout, which makes a mid-2016 release a plausible one.

The industry follower added that the new lineups, including the Nexus 7 2016, will be the launching products for the upcoming Android N, which already started appearing recently. While it may only be a developer's preview that fans will see in May, the full version of Android N launching between June and August, and coming pre-installed in the new Nexus lineups, seem a distinct possibility.

A new Nexus 7 has been clamored for by fans since last year's outing of the Nexus 5X and 6P. Green Bot said that while the previous Nexus 7 tablets can still work even after all these years, the performance and functions when compared to other tablets are already underwhelming, and a refreshed Nexus 7 will dominate the tablet field.
