Speculations have already circulated that Google is readying a new lineup of Nexus flagships, most likely as launching vehicles for the upcoming Android N platform. However, it seems that the tech giant is also looking to refresh some of its current lineups, as rumors of an "upgraded" version of the Nexus 6P made the rounds recently.

According to GSM Arena, a supposed benchmark listing of a Google Nexus 6P has been spotted on the Geekbench website. Reportedly, the new model maybe the upgraded version of the Huawei-made one launched last year, since there are major differences in the hardware. The processor for the new model is the current, top-tier Snapdragon 820 chipset, as opposed to the Nexus 6P's Snapdragon 810 processor. In addition, the model sighted on the benchmark site is featuring a 4GB RAM, and already runs on Android N. The current Nexus 6P carries 3GB of RAM and is running on Android Marshmallow.

The industry follower said that although it may be an upgrade for the Nexus 6P, it seems that the device will be one of the lineups slated for this year as part of the Google-HTC partnership. However, it can also be said that the upgrade version is part of an agreement between Google and Huawei, since the China-based company has been reported to be applying a copyright to the "7P" tag.

The current Nexus 6P itself is still enjoying success as part of the current Google Nexus lineup. Just recently, the flagship received a security and firmware update, which improves performance and stability of the device, as well as tweaking security and permissions. Furthermore, since the 6P is part of the Nexus lineup, it is certain that the flagship will be one of the very first devices to receive the Android N update once it becomes official.
