New journal for mission practitioners

The Missional Network, Together in Mission and Springdale College have teamed up to launch a new journal.

The Journal of Missional Practice was formally launched at the House of Lords by Conservative peer Lord Edmiston.

Speaking of the launch, the organisations said: "At a time when Christianity seems to be increasingly excluded from the public square, it was significant to launch a journal that brings mission thinkers and practitioners together in the very public space of the House of Lords."

Labour peer Lord Glasman was also present at the event and spoke in an address that Christianity was essential for the redemption of citizenship.

The journal seeks to engage missional practitioners and academics in a conversation about the presence of God in mission, the development of new ideas and practices, and how Christians can join in with what God is already doing.

The free online resource is intended to be "practice driven", with a view to deepening theological foundations.

General editors are Mary Publicover, information officer for Springdale College: Together in Mission, Dr Martin Robinson, National Director of Together in Mission and principal of Springdale College, and Alan Roxburgh, a pastor and teacher.

Dr Robinson said: "Christian mission reminds us that the death of Jesus on a cross had a huge political as well as spiritual and moral significance."
