New forum to help church leaders expand reach

A new forum has been set up by the Methodist Church to help church leaders reach out to people in their local communities.

The Fresh Ways Practitioners' Forum will hold its first meeting on 3 December at Methodist Church House in London.

The forum is also open to people wishing to broaden their ethnic or language-based congregations.

The idea for the forum was developed by the Methodist Fresh Ways of Working group. The Methodist Conference had asked the group to support the development of new expressions of church.

The Rev Joanne Cox, Evangelism in Contemporary Culture Officer, said: “The forum has the potential to be a challenging and encouraging place. It will recognise the work that is happening across the Connexion in the areas of mission, church growth, church planting, language and ethic-based congregational development.”
