New 'Devil May Cry' game news: 'Pinnacle of Combat' soon on mobile

It has been almost a decade since the last "Devil May Cry 4" was released, which is roughly how long the rumors have been going on about a "Devil May Cry 5" being in the works. While it is not exactly a fifth title to the franchise, fans will be gals to know that "Devil May Cry" is at least getting a new game, although only for mobile devices.

Yunchang Game, a Chinese company for mobile games, has bought the license rights for the franchise IP to create a new game called "Devil May Cry: Pinnacle of Combat." The game will feature the two characters fans have grown to love with the franchise, Dante and Virgil, who are both playable in the game.

It will supposedly have modes that focus on multiplayer, with online battles and real-time player-versus-player (PvP) combat. According to GameRant, the game would most likely not be part of the "Devil May Cry" canon. One of the biggest reasons is that the game might not even be available out of China.

Even then, since this new game is not being made by Capcom, and the company is not using any of the previous company's resources for the development of the game, it is highly unlikely that it would be canon. A few screenshots of the mobile game so far seem to be pretty impressive, nonetheless. The buttons are of the usual role-playing standard with a joystick button on the left and combat and skill options on the right.

As for fans who are still waiting for a console version by Capcom and is canon, the "Pinnacle of Combat" does not lead much to saying that there will soon be a "Devil May Cry 5." So far, there is still some hope that it will actually be announced soon. After all, there have been too many rumors about the project at this point that everyone is just waiting for Capcom to possibly admit the project.

"Devil May Cry: Pinnacle of Combat" will be available for both iOS and Android in China sometime within 2018.
