'NCIS' season 12 spoilers: Will series say goodbye to Tiva?

Fans of "NCIS" have not given up on a Tony and Ziva reconnection, but will it really happen in the 12th season?

"NCIS" executive producer Gary Glasberg has spoken a couple of times about Tiva and whether their love affair can still continue on. However, this time, it seems like Tiva's storyline won't be happening anytime soon.

Gary Glasberg spoke to TV Line and hinted that Tony DiNozzo will have a new love story this upcoming season. Fans took it as a final farewell to the return of Tiva.

"He went through a lot last year emotionally and tried to deal with Ziva's departure as he could," Glasberg shared. But earlier, Glasberg also said that "if Tony's in a relationship, it is only natural for him to talk to Ziva about it." This statement gave the fans hope that Cote de Pablo, who plays Ziva, might actually make an appearance in "NCIS" season 12.

"We'll be mature about it and handle it properly, and Michael's excited about it," says Glasberg about Tony's new love story. Glasberg assures fans that such a new love story is only but natural for Tony's character.

In related news, DiNozzo will be appearing in the show's spinoff "NCIS: New Orleans" and this has been approved by CBS already, reports Hollywood Reporter. Glasberg confirmed this during the Television Critics Association's summer press tour, saying that along with DiNozzo, Sciuto and Ducky will be appearing too.

The crossover appearance still doesn't have a final date. "As for when and how often, there's a lot that goes into planning and schedules and making sure Mark is here with NCIS, but we'll keep the balls in the air and make it work as well as we can," says Glasberg.

"NCIS" Season 12 will premiere on CBS on September 23. Fans of Tiva will have to wait until this date to know if Ziva will return or even just make a visit in the show.
