'NCIS' returns with a critical tie-up with convicted murderer Paul Triff

Expect nothing but tension-filled moments on the upcoming episode of NCIS on CBS that is set to air on Feb. 27. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service team will have to deal with striking a deal with a convicted murderer named Paul Triff. In exchange for a 48-hour furlough at his old home, will Triff truly give up information that could incriminate his ex-prison cellmate, Gabriel Hicks (Graham Hamilton)?

The NCIS has a bone to pick with Hicks, as he was the one who tricked Tobias "T.C." Fornell (Joe Spano) and NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) in the past. As Hicks, a known serial killer, is on the loose, the NCIS find themselves at an impasse when it comes to asking Triff for help, as it seems that no better option will present itself to the squad.

Actor French Stewart (Triff) will return to the series, and gives fans an inkling as to what might happen during the episode. Triff's old home is now the residence of NCIS Special Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray). What can the special agents expect from dealing with a convicted murderer who holds them to little regard? Since the deal does not involve parole or any deal that could actually decrease his time in prison, Triff does not have much to lose and has hardly any motivation to be more pro-active in this matter.

Episode 15 will be titled "Keep Your Enemies Closer" but, according to the episode promo, it might not resolve the intense cliffhanger from the previous episode called "Keep Your Friends Close." After NCIS Director Leon James Vance (Rocky Carroll) ordered Gibbs and the team to work with ex-FBI agent-turned-private investigator who was hired to find the body of a missing Navy commander, the task at hand is to get to the bottom of the mysterious crime.

"Keep Your Enemies Closer" will air on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 8-9 p.m. EST on CBS.
