American evangelist Franklin Graham is extremely proud of National Basketball Association (NBA) star Stephen Curry, who helped his team win the NBA Championship on Tuesday.

Graham said he is really impressed with Curry's athletic skills but is even more impressed with his deep-rooted Christian faith.

"Basketball fans already know that Stephen Curry was recently named the NBA's MVP and his team, the Golden State Warriors, won the NBA Championship last night. What they might not know is that Steph is a strong follower of Jesus Christ," he wrote on his Facebook page.

Graham cited an interview Curry had with Decision magazine, where he said: "Obviously, there's a lot of hoopla and fanfare that follows you wherever you go, but I know where my talent comes from. I know why I play the game, and it's not to score 30 points a night, but it's to use the stage I'm on. I've been put here for a specific purpose: to be a witness and to share my testimony as I go through it."

Curry goes by the Bible verse Philippians 4:13, which says: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." He said that the verse is his life's motto and he uses it every time he plays basketball.

Every time he makes a successful three-point shot, Curry makes a hand signal pointing towards God, and he explained that he does it so that people will look at "the Man who died for our sins on the cross. I know I have a place in Heaven waiting for me because of Him, and that's something no earthly prize or trophy could ever top."

And Graham could not agree more. "You're exactly right, Steph—and congratulations on winning in more ways than one!" he said.
