NBA All-Star 2016 rumors: Steph Curry hints at defending three-point title in Toronto

Stephen Curry says he will likely be joining the three-point shootout contest in the coming 2016 National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star Weekend in Toronto, meaning he will be defending the crown which he won last year.

For Curry, being there anyway is enough reason to join the event which will take place at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario on Feb. 12.

"Most likely. I've done it three straight years and finally won one. Knowing I'll be there already, I'll probably suit up Saturday night and see if I can defend it," says Curry via Fox Sports.

Curry won the title last year, ending up with 27 points and winning the shoot-out against his backcourt buddy at Golden State, Klay Thompson.

Even though many see his response as a bit vague, Curry could treat it as a warmup of sorts heading into the main All-Star game which will take place the day after.

Considered one of the best shooters in the NBA today, it still remains to be known who will try and pry the title away from him. Klay Thompson could return once more and maybe some other shooters who have been known to drill the long bomb.

A check over at NBA.com shows the following players who could be asked to join the event.

  1. J.J. Reddick (Los Angeles Clippers)
  2. Kawhi Leonard (San Antonio Spurs)
  3. Jared Dudley (Washington Wizards)
  4. George Hill (Indiana Pacers)
  5. Omri Casspi (Sacramento Kings)

Aside from that, there are other names that could be entered. Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Pelicans has been going great guns and could be considered too.

Another thing that seems to be motivating Curry is that it is a gym that holds a special place for him. Apparently, Curry and his dad (Dell) have gotten a lot of shots up there through the years.

With that said, Curry will be an obvious favorite to win the title again, even though it would be best to wait and see what challenge other yet-to-be-named participants will bring.
