Muslim Militant Asks for Forgiveness for Beheading Christian Girls

Muslim militant, Hasanuddin, who admitted two days ago his involvement in the beheading of three Christian girls, has asked for forgiveness from the victim's family in the Central Jakarta District Court on November 16, BosNewsLife has reported.

Hasanuddin now aged 34, added that he wanted to take vengeance for the killing of many Muslims in the year 2000 at a boarding school. The killings took place amid intensified Muslim-Christian violence in Poso, which is located in central Sulawesi, which is about 1,000 miles North-East of the Indonesian capital Jakarta.

"I was indeed involved in the beheadings," Hasanuddin told the court.

"With honesty and sincerity coming from my heart, I ask for forgiveness from the families of the victims. I promise to never repeat it again," he added, BosNewsLife reported.

Hasanuddin together with the other two accomplices could face death sentence by firing squad if convicted, according to the Indonesia's anti-terror laws.

The victims who were students in a private Christian school, namely Theresia Morangke, 15, Alfita Poliwo, 17 and Yarni Sambue, 15 were ambushed when they were on their way to school in Poso. Their heads were discovered miles away from their bodies, with even one of the heads found in front of a church.

The fourth girl, 15-year-old Noviana Malewa who managed to escape alive from the attack with serious injuries on her face and neck, reported the incident to the authority, local Christians and officials said.
