Moto X, Moto by Lenovo 2016 rumors: Lenovo's debut Moto flagship to be the Moto X3?

When Motorola Mobility was acquired by Lenovo, fans expected that the Moto brand has come to an end. However, Lenovo promised that the lineup will still continue, and recent speculations suggest that the company may indeed be developing its own Moto by Lenovo lineup, with the Moto X 2016 as the flagship. Rumors say new flagship will be dubbed the Moto X3.

According to Phone Arena, an Indian listing site has already dubbed the next Moto flagship the Moto X3. However, the industry follower stated that it is unclear if the "X3" moniker is only a codename. Should this be the final version of the model, then the Moto X3 name will be an unconventional brand, since there was never a Moto X2.

Meanwhile, Yibada says that the Moto X3 is already in the works, and has reportedly checked out with some benchmark sites. Allegedly, the "Moto X3" moniker is the brand, since the codename for the flagship is "Sheridan XT1650." The industry observer noted that since the Moto X3 is the flagship brand, it has been listed as carrying the top-tier Snapdragon 820 chipset, paired with 4 GB of RAM. In addition, the prototype has been listed as featuring Android Marshmallow 6.0.1. According to the industry observer, it is more than likely that Lenovo has included the platform as the most current one, although the next Moto flagship may also come out with Android N onboard, once the upcoming platform has been released in its full version.

Aside from its general internals, not much is known about the next Moto X flagship to date. There have been some "leaked" images detailing the design in the past, but the rumors remain unsubstantiated. However, since the Moto X3 is the first Moto by Lenovo flagship, it is expected that Lenovo will be featuring top-tier specs and design in the next Moto X, in order to go head-to-head with other flagships.
