Speculations suggest that another new flagship from Moto, the first flagship brand by its new owner Lenovo, will come out soon. In addition, it is said that the new Moto X 2016 will be like other flagship releases and may come out with a base model and a bigger version.

While Lenovo has yet to confirm the details, Pocket-Lint gives an idea about the Moto X 2016 being a full lineup, since its mid-range brother, the new Moto G, is supposed to also come out with a Plus variant. According to the industry follower, the new mid-range lineup from Moto by Lenovo will feature a base model Moto G4 and a Moto G4 Plus. Reportedly, the base model Moto G4 will have a 5-inch 1080p screen, while its larger variant will sport a 5.5-inch display.

It remains to be seen if Lenovo will give in to the idea of a larger version of its first Moto X flagship. If the supposed leaks of the 2016 edition are to be considered, there is at least one version already in the works. GSM Arena says that the Moto X 2016 will sport a 5.5-inch display, with the technology reportedly the same as the Moto X Force and Droid Turbo 2 screens, an AMOLED display with Shattershield protection.

Having two Moto X 2016 versions with different screen sizes also works against another confirmed feature. Reportedly, Lenovo will be making the new Moto X 2016 with a modular design in mind, much like what LG did with its G5 flagship. This means that add-on accessories will have standard sizes. However, leaks have pointed out that the add-on modules will connect to the device via pins on the back, so accessories may still be used even if the Moto X 2016 comes out with more sizes than one.
