One of the most anticipated flagships is Lenovo's first take on the Moto X iteration after acquiring Motorola Mobility. Speculations suggest that the company is taking its first steps with the brand by ditching the Moto X brand and calling the upcoming lineup the Moto Z.

According to perennial tipster Evan Blass of VentureBeat, leaked marketing materials have pointed out that Lenovo is thinking of changing the course of its Moto lineup by scrapping the Moto X tag. The new branding for the flagship iterations under the Moto by Lenovo brand will reportedly be Moto Z.

Changing flagship brands for new iteration releases is nothing new, at least for this year's lineups. Sony Mobile surprised everyone by discontinuing its Xperia Z series flagships and scrapping the previously rumored Xperia Z6 lineups. Sony then launched a new flagship lineup under the Xperia X brand, with at least three iterations under its lineup. HTC also decided to stop its One M series flagship with the One M9, going basic with its current flagship iteration, the HTC 10.

Phone Arena reports that there are at least two supposed iterations under the new Moto Z lineup. This means that much like what the lineup did last year, fans will see Style and Play versions of the flagship. Reportedly, both the Moto Z Play and Moto Z Style will feature 5.5-inch displays and integrate a modular design. This feature was leaked recently, as rumors suggest Lenovo will get the idea from the LG G5. Supposedly, the new line of accessories and modular add-ons for the Moto Z will be called Amps and will they will expand the hardware features of the device. The add-ons will come as modular pieces connected on the back of the device and have wide range of uses, from a camera grip to stereo speakers.
