'The Walking Dead' season 5 premiere: Morgan Jones' returns - did Gareth die?

What a Season 5 premiere that was for "The Walking Dead." AMC did not waste time as the debut episode jumped right into the cliffhanger of the season 4 finale. Episode 1 was entitled "No Sanctuary," and viewers got to know exactly why the title was perfect for the episode.

"No Sanctuary" picked up right where it left off, where Rick's group, including Daryl and Glen, were about to get their heads smashed with a bat and their throats slit. But before going deeper into that, it has to be mentioned that even before Season 5 started, it was confirmed that the Terminus residents were actually cannibals. The promo trailer for Season 5 confirmed it.

According to IBT, the trailer was described to be "potentially the most disturbing scene in the history of the AMC series - a human being getting chopped into pieces with an electric tool. Next to the table full of instruments are huge bins aptly labelled 'Burn,' 'Feed,' and 'Wash.'" It was freaky and creepy, and it was hugely successful in getting more people to tune in to the premiere.

Going back to Terminus and Rick's group about to get slaughtered, eight prisoners including Rick, Glenn and Daryl were already lined up to be killed. When it was about time to kill Glen, Carol helps save the day. She disguised herself as a walker and walked with a bunch of walkers outside Terminus. From there, Rick and the gang were able to get out of the situation and turn things around.

When they were about to escape, they had a gunfight with the residents called Sanctuary. Rick was able to wound the Terminus leader Gareth. The group retreated and the walkers took over the place. Meanwhile, Rick and the group were able to reunite with Carol, Baby Judith, and Tyreese.

In the end, Rick and the group were convinced that they need to finish Terminus once and for all, so they prepare to go back. And as Rick passed by a sign that said "sanctuary," he wrote "NO" on top of it.

But after the credits rolled, there was a huge surprise. A man appeared beside the "NO Sanctuary" sign and he is none other than Morgan Jones. Many fans have long waited for his return in the TV series as he only appeared in two episodes so far. But looking at it, it seems like Morgan will be staying a while longer for Season 5.
