There are currently 14 types of weapons in the game all viable depending on the player's play style. With numerous options and builds to create, players would not expect a new type of weapon coming to the game. At least according to the official Japanese Twitter of the game, there may be a new weapon type. Rough translations merely say that there is a secret.
The tweet featured a picture of the 14 current weapon types and one at the very end with a question mark on it. Given the context of the picture, it would be easy to assume a possible new weapon type. Many fans are already wondering what kind of weapon it will be.
Some suggest that this new weapon type may actually be an old one only coming back to the game. While others suggest that it is both a mix of old and news. There are, of course, some that may be skeptical of the idea in the first place. According to Game Rant, some think that it may just be a Palico item.
To introduce a new weapon type, one that has not been featured in the previous "Monster Hunter" games, would definitely be huge. That is especially after releasing the game only barely two months in. However, there is always that possibility that Capcom has indeed planned this out already.
As for whether it will really be a new weapon type or not, fans will just have to wait for whatever that question mark is. If it indeed is a weapon, Capcom may just have its own trailer for it soon.
