Last week the Buccaneers threw away the chance to end their winless start to the season. Having led 21-0 against the Seattle Seahawks they blew things away in dramatic style, and the Seahawks went through a period of scoring 20 unanswered points – they eventually won in overtime.
That leaves them 0-8 and if the season ended today, the Buccaneers would officially be the worst team in the NFL this season – giving them the No. 1 pick in the draft.
The terrible form has seen pressure continue to rise on coach Greg Schiano, however, it appears that owners are willing to give him more time to see if he can drag the club back to a more respectable position.
Meanwhile the Dolphins come into this game having snapped their four game losing streak. However, they have also been embroiled in a bullying controversy involving Jonathan Martin and Richie Incognito. That means Incognito has been suspended indefinitely for the harassment of Martin, and the coaching staff has been dragged into the issue for their alleged involvement in the situation.
The Dolphins must put things behind them though and now focus on what should be a vital time for them on the field this season. At 4-4 they are well placed to now make a run for the playoffs, but one wonders whether they will fall back now as controversy engulfs them.
