Microsoft is currently keeping details about Surface Pro 5 under wraps. Nonetheless, some rumors have been going around about the device.
The biggest source of information so far is Paul Thurott, who is known as someone who provides reliable and advance information about Microsoft products. He posted on his Twitter account, suggesting that the Surface Pro 5 will bear a Kaby Lake processor. He also indicated that the device will not see any dramatic changes. However, it is important to note that it is unclear who his source is, so the information he provided should be taken with a grain of salt.
It is also rumored that it will bear the Surface Connect proprietary charger, the same power connector seen on its predecessor. Should this be proven true, this could be a controversial move by Microsoft, especially given the fact that its competitors are now switching to the increasingly popular USB-C charger.
The price of Microsoft Surface Pro 5 has not been disclosed yet. However, it is estimated to be around $899, which can increase depending on the accessories, as well as any hardware that it will come bundled with. It is still unclear if a keyboard will be included in the package, although it is assumed that a stylus will be included. According to ITPro, Microsoft previously filed a patent for a rechargeable stylus and dock, although it is not clear yet if this device is the one that will come with the Surface Pro 5.
Microsoft Surface Pro 5 was originally rumored to be released at the same time as the Windows 10 Creators Update, according to TechRadar. However, this did not prove to be the case, as the latter was launched on April 11, with no trace of the former in sight. The device is now estimated to be released by spring 2017. It is also possible that more details about it will be given in a major Microsoft event, titled "#MicrosoftEDU," on May 2 in New York.
