Windows 10 news: Free trial version of Windows 10 Enterprise released by Microsoft

Microsoft has begun releasing the new Windows 10 platform, and to date, almost 14 million devices have been updated. Many users, however, would still need to wait for days, even weeks, for a complete download of — and upgrade to — the new operating system. Microsoft is releasing Windows 10 on a staggered basis, with Windows Insider members the first in line to receive the update.

The Redmond-based company, though, is not just relying on one avenue – a free, automatic update – to reach as many users as possible. Recently, Microsoft has announced that for those who wish to experience Windows 10 right away can instead download a trial version of Windows 10 Enterprise.

Instead of waiting for their turn for the automatic download to complete, users can instead download the 90-day trial version of Windows 10 Enterprise while still maintaining their current Windows 7 or 8.1.

However, Microsoft advises users that the Enterprise Edition is most suited for those who are maintaining businesses and organizations. As such, most of the features for the trial version are intended for curating large networks. In addition, most of the features present in Windows 10 Home and Pro editions are not available such as the digital assistant Cortana, and apps like People, Mail, Calendar, and Photos.

Meanwhile, IT professionals who want a sneak peek of the new Windows 10 can fully utilize the free trial version of Enterprise. The 90-day version comes complete with advanced protection tools against security threats; through deployment, update, and support features; and broad selection of app controls and management tools.

To download the 90-day trial version of Windows Enterprise, users will need to go to Microsoft's evaluation website and sign in using their Microsoft accounts. After signing in, a "Register to Continue" button for an Enterprise version will automatically pop up.
