More than a year after his fatal skiing accident, seven-time Formula One racing champ Michael Schumacher is still a long way from being fully recovered. Still, according to the latest updates, there are signs of improvement. Although paralyzed, the race car driver can now make several eye movements and recognize the voices of the members of his family.

The former Formula One champion was placed in a medically-induced coma after suffering from severe brain trauma that he acquired when he was involved in a ski crash in December 2013 at the French Alps. Until now, his recovery progress has been slow but relatively positive.

Previously, several rumors surfaced saying that his wife Corrina, and their children Gina Marie and Mick Jr., are slowly saying goodbye to the man of their house. However, Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm, official F1 physician Gerard Salliant, as well as International Automobile Federation chair Jean Todt made an announcement to refute all those claims, saying that there is still a chance for him to recover completely even if the prognosis continues to be undetermined.

Some of the earlier medical updates reportedly claim that the racer sheds tears whenever he hears the voices of his beloved family.

Presently, Schumacher is said to be undergoing continuous therapy to prevent having muscle atrophy. Some reports also mention that the racer is not just lying down on his bed every day, since he was reportedly seen sitting down in front of the big windows overlooking the Alps in Lake Geneva where he and his family is currently living.

The retired German race car driver is recognized as one of the greatest Formula One racers of all time, having won the first place in the competition seven times and earning the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year twice. His last win was for Ferrari during the 2006 Chinese Grand Prix.
