'Metal Gear Survive' gameplay news: Zombies, rescue missions, tower defenses

"Metal Gear Survive" is coming out soon, and nobody knows much of what to expect of the first "Metal Gear" game since Hideo Kojima's departure from the franchise. That is, until recently, when a trailer was released for the game.

Although only running for around six minutes, the gameplay shown was nothing short of breathtaking. While the graphics are definitely one thing to notice, and it does not disappoint, the game modes players will be able to play is a totally different story. "Metal Gear Survive" will definitely have a lot of one thing: zombie-like creatures.

Players will find themselves in an open-world where there will be a lot of these creatures. What makes them different from the normal zombie is that they have this sort of red lightbulb on their faces. As to what these red lightbulbs mean to them, players may just have to actually play the game and find out for themselves.

The whole trailer pretty much can be summed up to players being able to murder these "zombies" left and right. Shooting them might not be enough given their sheer number, leaving players no choice but to build their own defenses.

As mentioned earlier, "Metal Gear Survive" is the first game after Kojima's departure to make his own developer company. Although that may be the case, fans of the "Metal Gear" franchise would almost feel like he never left since the feel of the new game is quite similar to his work. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see how fans will be reacting to this all-new kind of game.

"Metal Gear Survive" will be coming out on Feb. 20, 2018 in the U.S. for PlaySation 4 (PS4), Xbox One, and PC. European players can get the game two days later.

Fans who want to try the game before then can actually do so next week, as a beta will be available by then. Unfortunately, the beta will only be available to those who have either the PS4 or Xbox One.
