Melissa McCarthy's weight loss update: Know the 'Ghostbusters' star's secret in shedding over 75 pounds

Melissa McCarthy has been known for her impersonations on "Saturday Night Live," now, McCarthy is making a name in Hollywood. From her remarkable way of making people laugh to her tremendous weight loss, the 47-year-old star is never running out of ways to surprise her fans.

The "Ghostbusters" star lost an impressive over 75 pounds after following a strict diet and doing a regular exercise. Leslie Bonci, a registered dietitian and "The Active Calorie Diet's" author, revealed that it was not magic that made the 47-year-old star lose weight.

It was McCarthy's great effort to prepare her meals filled with protein and small portions of carbohydrates like quinoa and fruit, although Ben Falcone's wife also added that it is because of the "super boring life" she is living. "You go to bed at 7:30 [p.m.], that's the trick," she told Life & Style magazine.

According to reports, the "Bridesmaids" actress is now living a healthy lifestyle, thanks to her Mediterranean diet. Through this, she can have a variety of food selections. She also revealed that eating slowly and savoring the food's flavors have helped her.

McCarthy now loves to exercise. In fact, she now has a personal trainer to guide her. On Mondays and Thursdays, she is doing smith machine squats, farmer's walk, dumbbell bench press, dumbbell deadlift, and inverted pull-ups. On Tuesdays and Fridays, she is doing bench press, plank, cycle, military press, treadmill, triceps press-down, high knee sprint, leg press, rowing machine, and bicep curl.

On days she is not in the gym, McCarthy is doing a 30-minute cardio exercise by walking the dog or playing tennis or volleyball. Evidently, she is now enjoying her hard work in keeping herself in shape and staying healthy.

In fact, she is busy working on her three new films coming in 2018. Currently, she is filming "The Happytime Murders" with Maya Rudolph and Elizabeth Banks.
